适应症
用于引产、催产、产后及流产后因宫缩无力或缩复不良而引起的子宫出血；了解胎盘储备功能(催产素激惹试验)。
用法用量
(1)引产或催产静脉滴注，一次2.5-5单位，用氯化钠注射液稀释至每1ml中含有0.01单位。静滴开始时每分钟不超过0.001-0.002单位，每15-30分钟增加0.001-0.002单位，至达到宫缩与正常分娩期相似，最快每分钟不超过0.02单位．通常为每分钟0.002-0.005单位。(2)控制产后出血每分钟静滴0.02-0.04单位，胎盘排出后可肌内注射5-10单位。
不良反应
偶有恶心．呕吐、心率加快或心律失常。大剂量应用时可引起高血压或水滞留。
禁忌
骨盆过窄，产道受阻，明显头盆不称及胎位异常，有剖腹产史，子宫肌瘤剔除术史者及脐带先露或脱垂、前置胎盘、胎儿窘迫、宫缩过强、子宫收缩乏力长期用药无效、产前出血（包括胎盘早剥）、多胎妊娠、子宫过大（包括羊水过多）、严重的妊娠高血压综合证。
注意事项
(1)下列情况应慎用：心脏病、临界性头盆不称、曾有宫腔内感染史，宫颈曾经手术治疗、宫颈癌、早产、胎头未衔接、孕妇年龄已超过35岁者，用药时应警惕胎儿异常及子宫破裂的可能。(2)骶管阻滞时用缩宫素，可发生严重的高血压，甚至脑血管破裂。(3)用药前及用药时需检查及监护：①子宫收缩的频率、持续时间及强度；②孕妇脉搏及血压：③胎儿心率；④静止期间子宫肌张力；⑤胎儿成熟度；骨盆大小及胎先露下降情况；⑦出入液量的平衡(尤其是长时间使用者)。
贮藏
密闭，在凉暗处(避光并不超过20℃)保存。
