适应症
它是一种强氧化剂，可以杀灭细菌，为家庭必备的常用消毒药。在妇科方面，0．01％的高锰酸钾水溶液可以用于阴道冲洗；0．02％的水溶液用于坐浴，治疗白带过多；蜜月之中，用0．05％的水溶液清洗外阴，可预防泌尿系统感染。女性痔疮的发生率较高，用0．1％的水溶液坐盆浸泡，可止痒止痛、防止感染，促进脱出的痔核复位。
用法用量
配制水溶液要用凉开水，热水会使其分解失效。配制好的水溶液通常只能保存两小时左右，当溶液变成褐紫色时则失去消毒作用。故最好能随用随配。

妇女使用高锰酸钾应当慎重，最好在医师指导下使用，不要一发现外阴或阴道发炎，就马上用高锰酸钾水溶液坐浴，而是应当确诊属于哪种类型的阴道炎。此外，也不要长期使用高锰酸钾，以免阴道里的菌群紊乱。使用高锰酸钾还应注意，由于高锰酸钾放出氧的速度慢，浸泡时间一定要达到5分钟才能杀死细菌。
